TED: A stroke of insight

To me, this is one of the most important TED talks ever published. It's inspiring, informative and makes you think. Not only do you learn a great deal about how the brain works, but you also get a glimpse of what the afterlife could be like... and you see it all through the eyes of a brain scientist!

Her experience of actually leaving her body and may i say loosing her complete orientation in space and time corresponds perfectly with a lot of other NDE (near death experience) testimonies. Only this is someone that normal earth-dwellers like you and me might actually believe as she is a respected person in her field.

About this talk
Jill Bolte Taylor got a research opportunity few brain scientists would wish for: She had a massive stroke, and watched as her brain functions -- motion, speech, self-awareness -- shut down one by one. An astonishing story.
