This is where we ended
now, first thing to add is a gradient.
Create a new layer, fill it with a gradient (radial works nice here). I made one that went from dark blue to orange, depending on the image you might want to consider if you want the gradient in the middle or make something asymmetrical. Put this layer all the way on top of the others and change the blending mode to screen or soft light (definitely try both). Change the opacity to around 60%.
To make it feel even older we're going to need a grungy texture. Very easy to google one. When you find yours, make sure it's in grayscale (or desaturate it in ps).
Now put the image in a new layer just above the original photo and change the blending mode to vivid light or overlay (again try both) at around 40% opacity.
Next step is to experiment with this setup, play with the colors, layer opacity and blending modes.
